  • Personalizing Your Food Library for Better Health

  • The FoodMarble Program is designed to help users understand and manage their digestive health through three stages: Baseline, Reset, and Discovery.

After completing tests on four common but hard-to-digest FODMAPs in the Discovery stage, you can build a personalized Digestive Profile based on your gut reactions to each FODMAP.

With your own Digestive Profile, your Food Library will be personalized just for you.

What is the Food Library?

The Food Library is a feature within our FoodMarble app that provides comprehensive details about different foods. Each food has its own information card, where you can find useful data; including the FODMAP content and the percentage of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of FODMAPs you’ll use if you eat that food. Our extensive and growing food database includes over 13,000 foods. You can easily access it by navigating to the “Foods” section in the app.

How the Personalized Food Library Works?

To get personalized results, you first need to complete the Baseline and Reset stages of the FoodMarble Program and move into the third stage: Discovery. The Baseline stage helps you determine what’s normal for your gut health without altering your diet, and the Reset stage focuses on reducing hard-to-digest foods by following a low-FODMAP diet to prepare your gut for the next stage. During the Discovery stage, you will use our FODMAP Kit to test your response to specific FODMAPs. We call these tests “Challenges.”

Based on the results of these challenges, your own Digestive Profile will be built. Depending on how your gut reacts to different FODMAPs, the FoodMarble app will adjust your %RDA for each FODMAP, and the Food Library can then provide you with personalized dietary recommendations on whether a food is right for you or not.

Example: How My Digestive Profile Shapes My Personalized Food Library

Let’s take myself as an example!

In the Discovery Stage, I took four FODMAP challenges using the FODMAP Kit and AIRE 2 breath tester to examine my fermentation level. The kit includes four sachets of common FODMAPs:

  • Fructose: found in fruits and honey
  • Lactose: found in dairy products
  • Sorbitol: found in various berries, stone fruits, sugar-free foods
  • Inulin: found in wheat, garlic, and onion

The results of these challenges showed that I have high scores on Lactose and Sorbitol, while low scores on Fructose and Inulin. As you can see in the picture below, my Digestive Profile was built based on the challenges’ results.

A higher score on a challenge means that a larger amount of fermentation will occur in my gut if I consume foods containing that specific FODMAP. In my case, the results suggest that foods containing lactose and sorbitol may be problematic for me, while inulin still causes some fermentation but not as much, and my gut handles fructose well.

So, how is my Food Library personalized to me?

Take Coca-Cola as an example. In the Food Library, each can (330g) of Coca-Cola contains 6.93 grams of fructose, contributing to 51% of the RDA. This makes Coca-Cola a high-FODMAP drink. However, I had a very low score in the Fructose Challenge, so drinking a can of Coca-Cola won’t cause high fermentation in my gut. When looking at the information card in my Food Library, the % of RDA is reduced to 21% because my results indicate that I can tolerate more fructose daily.

By completing the challenges in the Discovery stage, you’ll know your FODMAP tolerance thresholds after receiving your results. Our FoodMarble App will do the work to personalize your Food Library, so you can pick the right foods and consume the right quantities more effectively and easily.

The FoodMarble app’s Personalized Food Library is an invaluable tool for managing your digestive health. By tailoring dietary recommendations to your unique digestive profile, it helps you make informed food choices that align with your specific needs. Whether you’re dealing with IBS, SIBO, or other digestive issues like Food Intolerance, the personalized guidance provided by our Food Library ensures you can enjoy a diverse diet without compromising your gut health.
