A higher score on a challenge means that a larger amount of fermentation will occur in my gut if I consume foods containing that specific FODMAP. In my case, the results suggest that foods containing lactose and sorbitol may be problematic for me, while inulin still causes some fermentation but not as much, and my gut handles fructose well.
So, how is my Food Library personalized to me?
Take Coca-Cola as an example. In the Food Library, each can (330g) of Coca-Cola contains 6.93 grams of fructose, contributing to 51% of the RDA. This makes Coca-Cola a high-FODMAP drink. However, I had a very low score in the Fructose Challenge, so drinking a can of Coca-Cola won’t cause high fermentation in my gut. When looking at the information card in my Food Library, the % of RDA is reduced to 21% because my results indicate that I can tolerate more fructose daily.
